Rach Stud clinches 1-2-3 in the first two races of the year in São Paulo
On Saturday, January 29, the Arabian New Year and Daughters of the Desert Awards 2022 were held at the Cidade Jardim Racecourse in São Paulo; both contested in 1,100 meters on dirt for 3-year-old and older and had the participation of 15 animals. In the Arabian New Year Award, the first race, six horses started under the heavy rain that had been falling in São Paulo since Wednesday and did not let up even on Saturday. The jockeys had to show all their skill in driving the animals without any risk of accident. At the start, the 3-year-old gelding Veneraddo Rach (Atentaddo VE x Vanna Rach by *Aicyng AHRA) takes the lead, followed by Imperion Rach (*El Tino x Isis Rach by Vaillant Rach) and Hallmarck Rach (Bismarck Rach x Havella Rach by Pavel Rach) who battle for second and third places and distance themselves from the rest.
Sporting the colors of Daniela Franco de Oliveira, the jockey Osmar Pereira Filho proved to be confident aboard Veneraddo Rach in the 1,100 meters race, winning with a neck advantage over trainer Cícero F. Silva. And he proved to have inherited from his father, Atentaddo VE, the taste for victory. Jorge Ricardo, world race record holder with 13,155 victories to date, showed all his skill as he led rookie Hallmarck Rach to the end, trailing the first place by just one neck. He fought with Ruberlei Viana leading Imperion Rach to finish second from the first meters of the race. “As the most experienced horse, I was confident of a good result, but he surprised us by dominating the race from the beginning”, commented trainer Cícero F. Silva. “From practice, Veneraddo Rach showed that he was in excellent condition for the race. He started with a lot of desire to run and I just managed it”, declared the jockey Osmar Pereira Filho. Owner Daniela Franco de Oliveira said: “Veneraddo Rach is the most experienced horse in the Arabian New Year Award and we were confident of taking our first win. Naizza Rach (Feitizzo Rach x La Nouba Endurance by *Saad IBN Syed), in her second race, won the Daughters of the Desert Award after a balanced dispute until the entrance of the home straight, when under the command of Rudinick Viana she takes the leadership. While Naizza Rach had an advantage over the others, Tábita Rach (All Pol Rach x Tanara HJB by *Ultimate Bey Star), Helanca Rach (Vesper Rach x Heladia Rach by Paradiso Rach) and Blendda D'Johrdan JM (Johrdan El Jamaal x Shallana HVP) by *FA El Shawan), on the inside, battled for second place and Flicka AJR (Feitizzo Rach x Fascinacion by *Adventure Aladin), on the outside, advanced to be among the top five. Trained by Oberdan S. Pereira, Helanca Rach, Blendda D'Johrdan JM and Flicka AJR, led by jockeys Idevaldo Silva, Antonio Ferreira Matos and Jorge Ricardo, finished in third, fourth and fifth places. Trainer Lucas Quintana stated: “Naizza Rach has been with us for 45 days and she didn’t do well in her rookie race, but this time she put on a show, dropped out and ran with ease.” “In the final 600 meters she wanted to dominate the race and I let her go. When I realized that I was almost three lengths ahead, I was sure of the victory”, said jockey Viana.
For owner and breeder Paulo Jamil Saliba it was a fantastic victory. He said: “We are very happy and somewhat surprised by this excellent performance by Naizza Rach. She was coming off a bad turf debut and we knew that this time she would have a good race as she was showing an improvement in training. She won with great authority and left us hopeful that more victories will come in her promising career.” Almir José Ribeiro, racing director of the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association (ABCCA), said: “Under a real storm our Arabian horses showed all their athletic ability and rusticity and provided everyone who followed the Arabian New Year Awards and Daughter of Desert 2022 a real spectacle. Once again, Rach Stud Agropecuária is the breeder with the highest number of animals, five in the foal race and seven in the filly race. It is the largest breeder with the largest number of horses in all races held in Brazil since 2013 and, also, the biggest supporter to date.
